Caspase Reagents and Kits for Apoptosis Research
Caspase_reagents/apoptosis.jpg

The Caspase family of cysteine proteases has a crucial role in apoptosis. Caspases act in a cascade culminating in protein cleavage, disassembly of cell structures and cell death. The Caspase cascade may be induced by various stimuli from the cell surface or from mitochondria. Caspases exist in cells as an inactive precursor from. At the initiation of apoptosis, the precursor format is cleaved to form one large and one small subunit, which associate to form the active enzyme.

Caspase Assay kits, Colourimetric and Fluorometric Substrates:
Caspase activity in cell lysates may be quantified using ImmunoKontactÂ’s Colourimetric and Fluorometric Caspase Assay kits. Labelled synthetic peptides are cleaved by the activated Caspases in apoptotic cells, releasing the free label. The free label is then quantified using a spectrophotometer or fluorometer.

ImmunoKontact also has a range of
Caspase antibodies: to human, mouse and rat species.
Active Caspases: Active Recombinant Caspases and Pro-Caspases are useful in the study of enzyme regulation, kinetics, target substrates, in Western blots and as positive controls in Caspase assay kits.
Caspase Inhibitors: Caspase inhibitors irreversibly bind to activated Caspases to block apoptosis. These synthetic peptide inhibitors are cell permeable and non-toxic and may be used for cell culture and in vivo research.
